Pre-Surgery Consultation and Preparation

Consultations are essential for surgical planning. They allow our veterinary team to assess your pet's health and decide on the most appropriate surgical approach. During the consultation, expect to discuss your pet's medical history and any current medications. We may also recommend fasting and pre-op tests to prepare your pet for surgery.

Anesthesia and Pain Management

At The Animal Care Centre, patient safety is paramount. Our skilled anesthesiologists use state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and techniques to ensure your pet experiences minimal discomfort during and after surgery.

Orthopedic Surgery

We perform the vast majority of orthopedic surgical procedures that are commonly seen in veterinary medicine. For specialized cases, we refer our patients to trusted Phoenix-area specialists.

Common Orthopedic Procedures

  • CCL Extra-Capsular Repair
  • Medial Patellar Luxation Repair
  • Cranial Cruciate Ligament

CCL Extra-Capsular Repair

This procedure uses a robust suture material to reform the cranial cruciate ligament, securely binding the two halves together. While this surgery is effective for smaller breeds and senior pets, the recovery period is up to 12 weeks.

Medial Patellar Luxation Repair

This is a major surgery that aims to realign the patella using various techniques. It requires up to a 12-week recovery period. Physical therapy is often recommended to enhance the recovery process and maximize joint strength and mobility.

Laser Surgery

We use state-of-the-art AccuVet CO2 lasers for certain soft tissue surgeries. The laser vaporizes cells while leaving surrounding tissues virtually unaffected, resulting in less pain, less bleeding, less swelling, and quicker recovery.

Cryotherapy

What it is: Cryotherapy is a non-invasive surgical method that employs extreme cold to freeze and destroy abnormal tissues. It's commonly used to treat skin conditions and certain types of tumors.

Benefits: It's less invasive, requires little to no anesthesia, and usually results in quicker recovery times when compared to traditional surgery.

Laparoscopic Surgeries

What they are: Laparoscopic surgeries involve making small incisions through which a camera and surgical instruments are inserted. This allows for a less invasive approach to internal surgeries.

Benefits: These surgeries generally result in less post-operative discomfort, lower risk of infection, and quicker recovery times.

Post-Surgery Care

After surgery, we provide detailed post-operative care instructions that may include medication regimens, physical therapy, and diet modifications. Our team is available for any follow-up consultations to ensure your pet's swift recovery.
